There's a saying about the best sides winning when not playing their best. This was definitely true on Saturday as Lions 2s made hard work of the victory. With a number of withdrawals due to injury, work, illness and Twickenham visits, Lions fielded a reshuffled side including a 2nd team debut for lock forward Dan. Lions also welcomed back the veteran Matt Earnshaw following injury.
Lions took the early advantage with a converted try and penalty goal before Syston worked their way back into the match. Winger Jack was taken off injured mid-way through the 1st half following a series of late and questionable tackles. His replacement Liam who normally plays loosehead prop more than held his own out on the wing with a number of breaks and tackles.
The highlight of the afternoon was Jamal's excellent assist to Simon's 2nd try, an attempted penalty goal fell short before landing perfectly into Simon's arms to score a very unique try. Syston rallied and managed a second score before Lions defence held firm to see out the victory.
