The Lions suffered a fourth straight defeat in an entertaining game between two very attack-minded sides but secured a crucial try bonus point .
Rosslyn Park started strongly and when the Lions tried to attack from deep after 5 minutes a Reuben Logan handling error gave the visitors a scrum from which second row Jordan Martin crashed over following a couple of phases. Converted by Josh Bragman (0-7).
This was quickly cancelled out though when, on the next attack, a clever kick though from Charlie Davies was dotted down by young Northampton Saints winger Rafe Witheat. Converted by Bouchier. (7-7)
Park regained the lead on 20 minutes when from another scrum they made an initial bust and after some more strong carries Bragman scored from close range this time. He converted his own try for a 14-7 lead.
The Lions handling errors were really hurting them and when the normally reliable Joe Brock failed to take a high ball, Logan was penalised for playing the ball in an offside position. This gave Park another entry in to the Lions 22 and after more strong carries from the visitors' pack it was winger James Cordy-Redden who crashed over after 28 minutes. Bragman converted and then added a penalty kick on 38 minutes for a commanding 24-7 lead.
The Lions responded immediately though, winning the ball back from the kick off, and when Luke Bouchier made a break through the middle he found Theo Mannion in support who in turn fed James Stubbs to go under the posts. Bouchier converted (14-24).
There was still time for one more play and a speculative long kick from Bouchier was chased by the speedy Witheat who tackled the retreating Park full-back, causing him to offload the ball behind his own try line. The ball was kicked under pressure and it landed straight in to the hands of the onrushing Stubbs who fed Logan to score and bring the Lions right back in to the contest.

Unfortunately the contest was effectively ended when Logan was adjudged to have tackled high and was sent to the sin bin shortly after the break, and Park capitalised scoring two tries in the 10 minute period with an extra man. Firstly second row Martin got his second score when another Lions handling error gifted the visitors a run-in and then former Lion Benji Marfo finished off a fine Charlie Walker line break. Bragman converting one to restore a big lead (19-36).
The Lions dominated territory and possession once they were back to full compliment but were unable to take advantage of a number of visits to the Park red zone. It was the visitors who then settled the result in the 72nd minute when the flying winger Marfo doubled his tally. Replacement fly-half Steffan James converted (19-43).
The young Lions showed great resilience once again and secured the crucial bonus point try in the last minute when Jake Sterland finished off a sweeping move from the back line (24-43).
Just as the Lions did in the first half, Park found time for one last score with the clock in the red. Replacement scrum half Ewan Fenley scoring from a quick tap to complete a very entertaining afternoon of rugby.
Head coach Gareth Collins commented; ''It was a challenging game at the end of a challenging and long block of 8 games. We did lots of good things again, especially in attack, but we just made too many errors today. Park are a really experienced side, stacked with quality, and you just can't give them that many easy entries. It could be a really important point against a top side though. We have some huge games coming up against the sides around us in the next block so we'll take the lessons from this block and look to turn those in to results.''
