Collins played over 200 games for the Lions, the majority as captain, and also played for, and captained, England Counties during his time at the club. When asked if resigning was a difficult decision he replied: ''Lions was my club as a player and being in charge this season has been a dream come true. As long as the club wanted me to I was always going to stay.''
Collins added: ''It's been hard work but totally worth it. It was always going to be a big challenge having been transferred to National 2 South [where so many level transferred sides from the North league have struggled previously] but its been one that we have relished. We were written off by many at the start of the season and that certainly motivated me. We are really happy with how this season has gone thus far but we are always looking forward. We have some great players and I believe we can achieve some great things.''
